Our Styled Photoshoots in Asheville, NC

Over the years, The Enchanted Forrest has worked with the local fashion community by participating in fashion shows and collaborating on promotional photoshoots. One thing that has remained constant is working with local models for our own in-house photoshoots.

Around the same time I took over The Enchanted Forrest, my husband Duncan was getting into fashion photography. He was a photographer for a newspaper and a music magazine in the 1990s. During that time, he covered public events and pursued landscape photography. It wasn't until the last several years when he started getting into portrait photography and studio lighting.

One day, we thought that we should combine my love for styling looks with Duncan's photography. This would be a great idea to keep our skills sharp. While I explore putting new looks together, he can work on getting creative at photography. Asheville is known for being a hub for creative people. Even in the genre of fashion there are a lot of people interested in modeling, photography, styling, makeup, hair, and designing. So finding people interested in modeling hasn't been difficult. Sometimes the people we have styled and photographed aren't models at all. Some are regular customers that think it would be fun to do a photoshoot.

The two main reasons so many people want to do a photoshoot with us is that it is fun and they get professional level photos to use for their portfolios. Some people just want a good photo of themselves to use for a professional headshot image. Since The Enchanted Forrest is a small boutique, we don't have the budget of large retailers to work with models from a modeling agency. We do have the ability to offer models specific shots they need. Some people want headshots and some might want a photo with their family or significant other. There is not real time constraint on our shoots, so we can shoot for hours if the model has the time and wants specific photos. To make the trade for images even better, the models have unlimited usage rights to their images.

The main reason that we love doing photoshoots is that it gives us something fun to do. We love the whole process of picking out the looks, doing the shoot and sharing the images with the models and on social media. As 2020 has rolled around, not much has changed. We have received compliments on the photography that we share. Positions for people wanting to model are very limited, but if you are interested feel free to inquire. Duncan and I offer styled photoshoots on demand. If you would like for us to to pick out some looks and do a professional level photoshoot, message us. Styled shoots start at $300. The basic shoot includes two looks and your would get at least 12 final, fully edited, digital images. Each additional look is $50. This would be a great gift as well.
