Color Me Goodwill Fashion Show

On March 18th, I was happy to participate as designer at the Color Me Goodwill Fashion Show at Diana Wortham Theater in Asheville, North Carolina. I love fashion events and really love the excitement of designing for them.

For this event, each designer had to create specific color-themed outfits by using clothing and fabrics from Goodwill stores. My color was white and our team consisted of five wonderful models and a terrific hair and makeup team (Zhenya Lazarchuk and Iliana Guardado). For the event, there were a total of six designers. The competition was strong and the theater was packed.

I have spent years styling looks for Enchanted Forrest, fashion events, and photo shoots, but I am relatively new to designing. Since I was up against many designers with years of design experience, I was forced to work every night on my designs. I was asked to design for another fashion show this summer, but I just had to take a break and work on the store. Whew! That's a lot of work.

Goodwill Industries really put on a great event which also featured food from local restaurants and paintings from local artists. When the show as over, the first place award went to designer Malou Cordery and her designer were amazing. Second place went to local designer Leanna Echeverri. After the event, attendees and the design teams mingled in the lobby for photos and conversation. It was a wonder time! So proud of our team!
