It’s that time of year you all have been waiting for! First, I would like to thank all of our customers and consignors for supporting us. We have been in business since 1997 and will continue to be a fashion staple in Asheville. In order to stay on a solid path, we will continue to work hard and be here for you. Behind the scenes, my husband and I continue working on expanding our new inventory, making masks, and launching a sewing machine tune up service. But this past week, we have been preparing for our Semi-Annual SALE that begins on Friday. Save up to 75% off selected items.
Our sales are very popular. If you don’t drive by the store and see the sale sign, the only other way to learn of it is to visit our website or get an email notification. You can follow us on Facebook and Instagram for updates as well. The initial days of the sale can be busy, so we will control the amount of shoppers in the showroom throughout the day. The maximum amount of shoppers that we can have to allow for social distancing is eight. Even as this amount is maintained, it is up to you to be aware and give other shoppers a safe distance of six or more feet. Face coverings are required and we ask that you sanitize your hands at our sanitizing station when you enter.
We have been very consistent with sanitizing our store. We use surface disinfectants as well as an air filtration device. Clothing and accessories are steamed or cleaned with a disinfectant before they return to the show room floor. This method seems to work, even though it is a lot of work. We want to ensure you that we are doing our best to keep the store very clean so we all can be safe as possible. During our sale, the dressing rooms will be closed for safety. Sorry ahead of time for that inconvenience.
Unlike some big box stores, that seem like their stock is depleted, we are bursting at the seams with great items. We have so many new consignors and new shipments from our wholesalers, that you will be impressed. We haven’t missed a beat when it comes to staying on top of what is trending as well as what is in season.
The face coverings that we sell have always been made right here in the store. The demand has tapered off a bit, but we still keep a good variety on hand. If there are any business owners out there who have a staff of employees that need face coverings, we can create a bulk order for a discounted price. You would simply select a fabric, tell us how many you need (and by when), and we will give you a quote.
We are providing sewing machine tuneups...
The craft of sewing has seen a revival this year. Many people under lockdown have dusted off their old machines that have been in the garage for twenty plus years. With the hopes of making masks or just creating something out of boredom, some find that their beloved machines are not working. If your machine has been sitting for a very long time, it really needs to be cleaned and lubricated. Some machines were put into storage, because they stopped working correctly and the owners just gave up on them. 90% of these machines can be brought back to tip top working shape with a full service tune up.
We offer full service tune up service for mechanical sewing machines for $90 plus tax. A tune up includes an initial sew test, removing all covers, remove all old oil and grease, and re-lubricate every moving part from top to bottom. The initial sewing test will tell our technician what needs to be adjusted. The three main adjustments are hook/needle timing, needle bar adjustment, and feed dog timing. Most machines are fixed with these adjustments and are included in the tune-up price. If the machine needs a part replaced, we will contact you . You can drop off a machine during our business hours. Call us if you want to do a curbside drop off. If you have trouble transporting the machine, we can do home pickup/delivery for an additional fee. We are not servicing computerized machines at this time, but will include that service next spring.

Would you like to own a cool vintage machine that has been fully serviced? We have them here! We will feature these machines for sale under the “shop” section of our website. They will also be displayed in our showroom. Let us know if you would like to try one out. Each machine is guaranteed to sew beautifully. If there are any quirks (mostly in the bobbin winding section), it will be stated in the description and mentioned in the demonstration videos. These are really great if you are a first time sewer, because the ease of use and the quality of the stitching. When you purchase a machine from us, Duncan can go over the machine with you and demonstrate how to wind the bobbin, thread the machine, and maintain the machine. Each machine comes with a three month (90 day) labor warranty. If something gets out of whack during that time. We will adjust if for free or give you a refund.
